The Ojochal/Playa Tortuga area is a hiker’s paradise. You can explore Costa Rica’s amazing real estate including many roads and trails, streams, and beaches around the hotel at your own pace. Of special interest is the waterfall just 4 km from the coastal highway, through the center of Ojochal. Other great places to hike are Hacienda Baru Nature Reserve and the Nauyaca Falls close to Dominical.

The Nauyaca falls are formed by two beautiful cascades on the Baru River that tower 150 ft. and 65 ft. above a sparkling, 20 ft. deep pool with 3000 sq. ft. surface area. The falls are the centerpiece of the Nauyaca Tourist Center, which features an extensive network of trails through a 45 acre wooded area of reforested land and 50 acres of tropical rainforest.

Hacienda Baru offers self-guided tours of its lush jungle and beach. Just pick up a map in the reception room and head out to discover the beauty of this nature reserve.
